Three Degree Conferral Dates - One Big Ceremony!

2008 Commencement will be Saturday, May 17, 2008.

The Office of Events Management is responsible for the organization and hosting of the Commencement and Convocation ceremonies. Please contact them for further information on the graduation ceremonies.

George Mason University holds one annual Commencement ceremony per academic calendar year. With the exception of August Doctoral Candidates, all students who file to graduate on January 12, 2008, May 17, 2008, or August 9, 2008 are invited to participate in the ceremony. (August 2008 Doctoral Candidates participate in the May 2009 Commencement ceremony). Specific colleges may hold their own Convocation ceremonies where students are individually recognized. Please contact your department for information on these events.

*Important Graduation Information*

• May Doctoral Candidates will not be allowed to participate unless all degree requirements are recorded by the Office of the Registrar before May 17.

• Bachelor’s and Master’s Candidates completing courses, projects, thesis, or exams in the Summer term may participate in Commencement. The official degree conferral date will be August 9, 2008.

• August 2008 graduates who need to take final classes during the Summer 2008 semester are still eligible to participate in the May 2008 Commencement ceremony. The only requirement to participate is a filed graduation intent (GIF) on Patriot Web.
  
  
  

Commencement Program Information

January graduates and May graduation filers who meet the filing deadline are automatically included in the May 2008 Commencement Program.

August graduates must have filed their Graduation Intent Form by March 14, 2008 to have their name included in the Commencement Program, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Any student wishing to have his/her name EXCLUDED from printing in the Commencement Program must print and complete the Exclude Name from Commencement Program Request form and submit it to the Office of the Registrar by March 3 for the following May ceremony. E-Mail requests will not be accepted. Direct the request to:
