November 15, 2008 : Graduation Intent Form (GIF) must be submitted on Patriot Web.
December 3, 2008: Graduate and Certificate students must submit Graduation Applications to their academic departments.
Departments submit approved and denied applications to the Registrar's Office.
Late February 2009: The Office of Events Management will be mailing information to all graduating students information concerning the May Commencement/Convocation ceremonies. For more information contact Events Management at 993-2853 or visit their website http://events.gmu.edu/
May 1, 2009 : Thesis and Dissertation Library Submission Deadline.
May 16, 2009: Degree Conferral and Commencement Ceremony at Patriot Center. All students who will graduate in 2009 may participate except for Ph.D. students who will earn their degree in August 2009. These students participate in the following May 2010 ceremony.
The Registrar's Office Graduation Section will begin to review and award degrees after May 16, 2009. Degrees will not be officially awarded prior to this date.
The 6-Week "Grace Period" is given to students to resolve certain outstanding issues delaying degree conferral such as incomplete grades, receipt of study elsewhere transcripts, and processing of substitution and waiver forms.
June 26, 2009 : Marks the end of the 6-week grace period. All incomplete coursework, even if not being applied to the degree, must be resolved and grades posted.
- NOTE: All courses, projects, theses, dissertations, comps, credit-by-exam and scholarly papers must be completed by their deadlines prior to the conferral date.
End of June: Approximate mailing date for May diplomas.
