Spring 2014 Final Exams

PLEASE NOTE: Your final exam time has been shortened to accommodate university closures and delayed openings.

Exam period begins on 5/9 and ends 5/14.

Exams for classes at the Arlington Campus or at off-campus locations are held during regularly scheduled meeting days and times.  For Arlington campus, please refer to the schedule below for your exam day and time.

Students who have more than one examination scheduled at the same time or more than two examination scheduled on the same day should consult their instructors to request rescheduling.

Final Exams for Non-Standard Courses

Non-standard courses – There is no pre-scheduled day and time for courses that meet at times not listed in the exam schedule below. Instructors are responsible for scheduling an exam time and a make-up exam time through the Registrar’s Office by emailing adhoc@gmu.edu. The exam times must be announced to the class by mid-semester.

Distance Education courses – Instructors requiring a classroom for a face-to-face final exam are responsible for requesting an exam time and a make-up exam time on Sat. 5/3 or during the exam period by emailing adhoc@gmu.edu. The exam times must be announced to the class by mid-semester.

Departments with courses that combine all sections to meet for one exam time (i.e. block or common exams) – Scheduling coordinators may request an exam during final exam week in the 7:30 – 10:15am time period.

Make-up Periods for Final Exams

Make-up exam times must also be scheduled through the Registrar’s Office by emailing adhoc@gmu.edu. The exam times must be announced to the class by mid-semester.  If the university is unexpectedly closed on an exam day, make-up times will be announced as soon as they are determined and will be posted on the University-wide Class Cancellations page.

The last scheduled day of the final exam period is the scheduled make-up day. The Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the final exam period are also potential make-up days. Students and faculty must be available for the make-up day(s).

If possible, make-up exams will be given at the same time and in the same room as the missed exams. Students and faculty should check the Office of the University Registrar’s website for up-to-date information.

Processing of grades and student transcripts may be delayed by use of make-up dates late in the exam period.
