Classroom Descriptions & Features

The Office of the University Registrar will use maximum enrollment as the first driver as they accommodate scheduler requests. After maximum enrollment is accounted for, then classroom type desired would be the next driver to match faculty to their classrooms. The goal is to, as much as possible, provide faculty the classroom type that best matches their teaching and learning needs/interests.

Note that technology provided for instructors varies across classrooms. All classrooms at Mason offer display capabilities. Some classrooms provide consoles with computers, others are Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). In some classrooms there are enhanced technological capabilities, such as WebEx, screens that allow projection from two sources, and/or wireless projection.

To learn more about the specific technology in your assigned classroom, visit the Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning Classroom Guide.

1Technology provided for instructors varies across classrooms. All classrooms at Mason offer display capabilities. Some classrooms provide consoles with computers, others are Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). In some classrooms there are enhanced technological capabilities, such as WebEx, screens that allow projection from two sources, and/or wireless projection. 2This Active Learning Classroom (72 seats) has more robust technologies. Due to our desire to support faculty and student success for teaching and learning in these rooms, certification through the Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning is required to be assigned to teach in this room.

*The majority of Baseline classrooms have flexible furniture, but rooms do not support collaborative group work. Faculty who desire to have a space for collaborative group work should consider either Active Learning or a Collaborative Classrooms.
