Prioritize Eligible Courses

The Prioritize Eligible Courses feature allows users to prioritize a course over another course for a requirement if the course already satisfies the constraints of the requirement.

Anyone marked in Banner as an Advisor has the ability to utilize the Prioritize Eligible Courses feature. Unlike Exceptions and PEAs, the Prioritize Eligible Courses feature does not require additional approval once submitted and will be immediately applied to the student’s audit instead of going through an approval workflow process.

When to Prioritize Eligible Courses

Examples of when Prioritize Eligible Courses can be used to count a course over another course for a requirement when the course already satisfies the constraints of the requirements include:

  • Unique Credits
    • Move courses around to fulfill a unique credits requirements
  • Emphases or Tracks
    • Move courses around to choose an emphasis or track
  • Limits to Courses or Courses with Specific Grades
    • Choose one course over another course when there is a maximum of X courses with a specific grade or course list that can slot
  • Courses that Can Fulfill More than One Requirement
    • Move a course that can slot in more than one requirement but cannot double count to fulfill one of the requirements over the other

How to Slot a Course via Prioritize Eligible Courses

Users who have permission to initiate slotting a course via Prioritize Eligible Courses will see a series of three dots next to categories:
