Course Setup: Behind-the-Scenes

Creating a course entails many steps and specialized set-up in Banner. Most of the details for course set-up are taken directly from your course proposal which has been fully-approved in CIM. However, some details, including anything which is part of a course’s default set-up, will not display on the CIM form. These include:
  • default restrictions: these restrictions are set on every course within a certain level category, regardless of department affiliation.
  • non-default grading options.

The full list of default set-up rules follows. Note: older courses may not currently reflect the most updated rules listed below.
